A Rose By Any Other Name ...

... would never smell as good as Old Salem Wild Rose Soap does! I absolutely love this soap.  I know, I know, Avon has shower gels and soaps as well ... and I use them. I really do! Daily even! And I love them, too. Check out the picture below. It shows THREE bottles are in my shower as we speak, and 1 is almost empty!

But I gotta tell ya that this glycerin soap is fabulous. The first time I laid my nose on some was when we visited North Carolina. We did this really cool historic town called "Old Salem" and I stumbled on this stuff in the gift shop. Not really knowing the greatness of this small bar ... I only bought one. DOH! I get home and was like "Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness." LOVED it so much that next time we went to North Carolina I made my hubby drive me to the Old Salem Gift Shop and I bought their stock out. Ok, well maybe not the whole stock ... but several bars at least!

And now ... to my great pleasure ... and the reason I decided to blog about soap :) ... the heavens have opened up and I can hear angels singing ... they have a website! Check it out here. If you do decide to order some you'll have to ask for it by product number 22589 because after searching and searching and not finding it, and breaking out in hives over the fear of not finding my soap, I did email them begging to know the scoop.  They told me they don't have the soap actually listed on their page. But they got it, I promise ya they do!

You know, if you are ever in the Winston-Salem area ... and you love history as much as I do ... you will WANT to do Old Salem (especially in the fall). It's an 18th century town that was founded by Moravians. The streets are cobblestone and lined with trees that have color changing leaves. They have a 18th century bakery that is to die for and goodies are made daily. They also have a candlestick shop where they make 18th century wax candles. I gotta tell you that there is so much to see and many original historical buildings. It's so worth the trip.

Oh, and let us not forget my favorite part of Old Salem ... right in the heart of town you will find The Oldest Big Coffee Pot in America. Yes, you see that correctly. It's a 12' tall coffee pot! This sucker was so cool. Well, at least to me it was. The family could care less :) It was built in 1858 by a tinsmith to advertise his shop. I guess you could say it may have been the first bulletin board :)  I know, I hear it all the time from my husband. I don't need to hear it from you as well ... I'm a freak :)

That's me!  Standing under The Big Coffee Pot.  How cool am I?
And if freakiness runs through your veins like me, then be sure to check out the other oddities that Winston-Salem has to offer:

Shell Shaped Gas Station Built in the 1930's.
My son never even stopped playing his PSP to look at it.
Takes after his father :)

The Big Chair.  Originally built in 1922.  But weather tore it apart.
This one was built in 1952 to stand the weather better.
I got out of the car to appreicate the craftsmanship better ....
the family stayed in the a/c.
It was hot.  VERY hot.  Africa hot.

In closing, Let the Freaks Unite! I can't be the only one out there who likes odd things :) Seen anything freaky on your vacations? Or just have a great vacation story in general?  Be sure to share a comment below!

Have You Met Her Yet?

Where Baby-Love Blooms ...

Once upon a time, there was a young mom
who wanted the best for her little one.
She looked online and in the store,
but nothing was pure, cute, or fun enough--
her child deserved more!

So she searched inside her heart
and gave Tiny Tillia its magical start.

Tiny Tillia is a land where kisses grow on trees,
giggles spout like wildflowers
and sweet scents fill the air.

You won't find it on the map.
But hug your baby and in a snap,
the Tiny Tillia bunch will appear
with wonderful products and plenty of cheer.

Tiny Tillia is a rockin' new product line with Avon.  It was founded by Tiffany Lerman because as a mother herself she wanted baby products that were high quality but great fun as well.  The playful bunch of Tiny Tillia characters were inspired by members of her own family, including her mother, author Jackie Collins.

I have to tell you that this new line of Tiny Tillia makes me want to have another baby.  I just want to buy this stuff up and squeeze it tight and smell it up ... wait, reality check ... my kids are finally growing up.  One is even college bound!  Let me not forget that babies are hard work.  Hmm, do I really WANT to go there again?  Maybe I'll just borrow YOUR babies for a day ... or maybe I'll buy this yummy stuff up for friends ... yeah, that's more like it :)

And how CAN we buy this stuff up?  Head over to the online store and look around.  There is lots to see.  You can even create a baby registry for yourself or a loved one who is expecting!  It's great!

*If you should decide to check out Tiny Tillia ... and you purchase some goodies while there ... would you be so kind as to give my name as your rep.  Thanks*

Sales Event!

Have you ever seen "The Sound of Music"?  Duh, who hasn't, right?  I absolutely LOVE that movie.  One of my favorite songs from the movie is when Julie Andrews and the youngins are singing "These are a few of my favorite things".  Ahhh, the memories.

Well, I can't help but hum that tune to myself as I browse this latest Avon brochure.  So many of my favorite things are on sale!  Who doesn't love a sale, right?!  It makes me feel less guilty for spending money on frivolous things for myself.  Anyone else out there like that?  You see something you want really bad and then say, "Well, my son needs this ..." or "Hmmm, my daughter really wants this ..." and then you don't buy it.  I think it's a mom thing.  You don't see dads doing that do ya?  How many of our garages are filled with man-toys??  Hmpf.

Oh-Oh ... off track ... back to the reason for this blog :)  Because so many of my favorite things are on SALE, I decided I'd blog a few to wet your appetite.  This is by no means an exhaustive list of everything.  These are just the ones that I'm going to jump at :)

Since we've been talking about feet this month ... how exciting that much of the FOOTWORKS line is on sale!  Buy one get one for 99 cents.  Anything from pages 168-173 of the latest brochure.  I've clipped a tiny replica of the pages below to give you an idea.  For a better look check out my online store.

NATURALS Shower Gels are CHEAP this time.  Usually they are around $6.00 but right now they are on sale for $1.99 each.  LOVE these gels.  Yummy smelling and makes your skin so so so soft.

Beyond Color PLUMPING Lipstick is only $4.99!  Kowabunga dude.  I love this lipstick.  I use the beige shimmer.  It really does work.  After like wearing it for about 3 days my lips were not so old ladyish and wrinkly :)  I hate getting old :)  Anways, it's not a glossy finish though if that is what you want.  More a matte finish with a tiny sheen.  Smooth looking.

And finally, GLAZEWEAR Lip Gloss is on sale too!  This is what you go to for a glossy shiny look.  Only $2.99 each.  That is a savings of $3.  50% off baby!  What I like about these is they are not overly sticky like other glosses.  I love the Mocha Latte and the Island Glow.  I guess you can tell I'm a warm person with my colors.  LOVE them browns :)

As I said, much much more is on sale.  I bet you find things that YOU love.  Hey, and if you do, be sure to type in the comments here so others can jump on the bandwagon with us :)

To order any of the above ... or to see what else is available be sure to check it out at my online store.

The Perfect Iced Coffee!

And now a break from our regularly scheduled programming for this important post from Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman.  I know my blog is all about Avon and how to look younger :)  but I gotta share this recipe with you.  If I had mountains where I lived I'd for sure climb to the top of the highest peak and shout for the world to hear that Ree Drummond should be president!  She says with humor on her blog that this recipe "will change your life".  Hallelujah she ain't a kidding!  I made some last night and it rocks!!

What, you say, am I raving about and wasting your time with?  I am singing praises of The Perfect Iced Coffee.  Check it out ... make it ... you'll be changed for ever.

You know, aside from Jesus Christ, caffeine is the glue that holds my marriage together.  As most of you moms out there can attest to ... we don't get much sleep.  Seems like something every night takes precedence over sleeping.  It's been said, and I can agree, that moms will get all the sleep they need when they die.  Because of that I need the caffeine to get me going in the morning.  But the problem is that I don't like hot drinks.  Not unless it's Alaska cold outside, which doesn't happen often where I live.  Therefore, my caffeine comes in the form of diet coke ... yes, even at 5:00 a.m.  Well, friends, now that I have stumbled upon Ree's liquid gold my sweet hubby won't have to hear the tell-tale sign of "pssshch" ... and won't have to roll his eyes ... each morning as a soda can opens up.

Viva La Ree!

Sandpaper Heels

Picture this ... true story ... My husband comes in from working hard in his man-cave, or is it playing hard, hmmm.  Well, anyways he finds me busy with housework and says, "Honey, can you come help me for a minute?"  Always pleased to be of help to my husband (chuckle chuckle) I dry my hands on the dish towel and head to the garage.  He leads me toward his work bench and asks me to plop my foot up onto this rough piece of lumber who knows what he's doing what with.  I give him a blank stare as if to say, "You want me to do what with my what?"  He must have read my mind (as happens with married couples) because he then says, "I'm out of sandpaper to smooth this wood.  Your heels would work great as a replacement!" ... well ... maybe it wasn't REALLY a true story.  But it could be I tell ya.  My heels are just that bad!!

That is why I am starting "Pampered by Tammie".  Each month I will feature on this blog a specific product I am currently using by Avon.  I will try it, use it, and give you honest feedback on how it works.  This month is the Avon FOOTWORK line of products.  There are way too many to list them all.  But I have included links below on how to check some of them out.  You know, summer is coming or actually been here for me ... and I will be in flip flops and sandals most all the time from now on.  Gotta have pretty feet don't cha know.

So, I started my "I'm 40 now and still want to look 20" beauty routine this past Sunday.  My first step was to apply the Lavendar Foot Mask.  LOVED it.  It went on really easy and wasn't cakey or gross to use.  I left it on for a very long time like the bottle said until it was totally dry.  Then I plopped my tootsies into an inflatable tub of water that I had poured two capfuls of Lavendar Foot Soak in.  The bottle says to only use one capful but I'm a rebel sometimes.  Actually, I tend to be a rebel in many areas of my life.  Anyway, back to the story ... the stuff smelled awesome and relaxed my aching feet.  Made them soft too.  After I had let them soak through the whole Sylvester Stallone movie we were watching ... (don't ask!) ... I gently dabbed them dry with a towel and generously ... actually REALLY generously ... like smothered my foot so it looked like a purple snowman generously ... with Lavendar Overnight Renewing Cream.  Then I put socks on and some lovely "old lady" slippers as my husband calls them.  Then I went about my business of cooking and cleaning and being Cinderella.  Well, truthfully, I went into the other room to scrapbook.  It just sounds better to say I am a good housekeeper.  But no matter what I was doing I left the socks on all night.  The next morning my feet rocked.  They were soft and awesome and much of the cracked heels were already better.  I've been applying the Lavendar Overnight Renewing Cream every night after my shower since.  Each day they look better than the last.  Hopefully in a few more weeks you won't even know I had 'Sandpaper Heels' at one time!
